Amanda and Darrell's Hurricane Lee Wedding

Picture this: the roaring winds, torrential rain, and the howling of a hurricane as the backdrop for a wedding. It may sound like a scene from a dramatic movie, but for me, it became a memorable reality when I had the privilege of photographing Darrell and Amanda's wedding that took place during Hurricane Lee.

A Beautiful Vision in Blue, Red, and Orange

Amanda had a vision for her special day. She chose a stunning colour palette of blue and red with pops of vibrant orange. Each bridesmaid's dress perfectly matched the groomsmen's ties, creating a harmonious and eye-catching ensemble. The choice of colours perfectly reflected the couple's warm personalities.

Getting Ready at the Oromocto Days Inn

After starting the day with a visit to the hair salon, the girls got ready at the Days Inn. Amanda set the tone for the day with an unwavering determination and a smile that could brighten even the gloomiest of days. She did the makeup for her bridesmaids, Kelly and Allison. It was a heartwarming sight to witness the bonds of friendship as they helped each other prepare for the day ahead. To make the moment even more special, Allison's daughter joined us. Hearing Audrey's giggles made capturing this getting ready portion so much fun.

One floor above, Darrell and his groomsmen, Greg and Luke, were making their own preparations. Laughter filled the room as they exchanged stories and eagerly waited until the time came to sneak away for Chinese food.

The First Look

As the hurricane raged outside, Amanda shared a first look with her bridesmaids and her parents. The emotions in the room were palpable, and I knew that this wedding would be unlike any other I had photographed. Love, resilience, and an unbreakable spirit filled the space, making it a truly remarkable start to the day.

A Ceremony at St. Luke's Chapel

With the storm showing no signs of letting up, we made our way to St. Luke's Chapel, where Amanda and Darrell were to be united in marriage. The intimate setting and the presence of their nearest and dearest made the ceremony incredibly moving. The vows they exchanged were not just a commitment to each other but also a testament to their ability to weather any storm life might throw at them.

Rainy Bride and Groom Portraits

After the ceremony, Darrell and Amanda decided to seize the moment. In the midst of the hurricane, we ventured over to Hazen Park to capture some breathtaking bride and groom portraits under the willow tree, rain-soaked and windswept. The images we created during those moments were nothing short of magical.

Dancing the Night Away at the Oromocto Legion

The celebration continued at the Oromocto Legion, where friends and family came together to celebrate this extraordinary couple. The rain and wind outside seemed to pale in comparison to the warmth and joy within the reception hall. The newlyweds, now officially husband and wife, danced the night away, surrounded by the love and support of their cherished guests.

Love Conquers All

Photographing this wedding during Hurricane Lee was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It showed me that love can not be deterred even by the fiercest of storms. Amanda and Darrell demonstrated that true love can weather any challenge, and their wedding day was perfect.

I'm grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary day, capturing moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. It serves as a reminder that love truly does conquer all, even in the midst of a hurricane.
